General Manager – Civic Trees

Salary up to £48,000 + bonus

Based in Radlett, Hertfordshire

Due to the promotion of the current post holder and continued growth, we now seek an experienced business leader to oversee our Civic Trees brand. Glendale Civic Trees operates on a national basis from its base in Radlett, Hertfordshire. At its core, Civic Trees is a specialist company dealing with semi mature tree supply, planting and relocation to a significant and prestigious client base. 

This is a unique business that fuses a passion for trees, landscapes, heavy engineering and problem solving to create amazing spaces for clients with a passion for the environment. 

Qualifications and requirements

The General Manager will be responsible for the successful leadership of the current operations covering tree sales, commercial landscaping and installations, working closely with the day-to-day operational management of the contracts. Activities will involve liaising with our highly valued clients and sales team, ensuring a strong order book and that resources are being used effectively in maintaining excellent productivity and profit across all projects.  

The role requires a strict regime of sales development & management, accounts & customer relationship management, operational & project planning and commercial decision making. 

The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast moving and challenging operational environment but be equally comfortable developing rapport with a mixed client base, including construction companies, landscape architects and high net worth individuals. Natural leadership and communication skills are essential along with an entrepreneurial spirit and a drive for innovation in service delivery. 

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level (desirable) or an equivalent level 6 qualification, ideally in a land-based study (e.g. Horticulture, Arboriculture or the Construction sector) or a similar industry. The successful person will have at least 5 years management experience, good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with high energy levels and enthusiasm.  They will have excellent financial and planning skills as well as a high degree of quality, health, safety and environmental competence.
