Glendale proud to be a supporter of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Glendale is proud to be a supporter of the Mental Health Awareness Week and this year the theme is nature. Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 10th – 16th May 2021 and is open to everyone. It is about starting conversations about mental health and the things in our daily lives that can affect it.

Mental Health Awareness Week is an annual event which provides an opportunity for the entire UK to focus on achieving and maintaining good mental health. The Mental Health Foundation started the event 21 years ago and each year the foundation continues to set the theme, organise, and host the week. The event has grown to become one of the biggest awareness weeks across the UK and globally.

According to The Mental Health Foundation, 45% of us say that being in green spaces has been vital for our mental health during the Covid-19 pandemic, with going for walks outside being one of our top coping strategies. Birdwatching, swimming in the sea, eating a meal outdoors or doing some gardening are other natural pursuits that you may enjoy and that could become mental health habits that can help you relax, boost your mood, and give you positive distractions from stresses or worries.

The Mental Health Foundation wants as many people as possible to think about connecting with nature and how nature can improve our mental health.

Glendale is in partnership with Able Futures who can support you with mental health advice and guidance.             Able Futures has created the Nature & Mental Health Challenge, including many things you could do to spend time in nature and support your mental wellbeing.

You can sign up to the Able Futures webinar on Wednesday 12 May at 2pm to learn more about 5 ways to wellbeing and how spending time in nature can support your mental health. If you cannot watch at that time, you can still sign up so that you are able access a recording at a later date.
