Health and safety at Glendale is recognised with an international standard

Glendale’s Occupational Health and Safety System has been accredited to the new standard ISO 45001.

The standard has been developed by a committee of occupational health and safety experts. It follows the same management system structure as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, to which Glendale is certificated, streamlining the management processes and enabling faster performance analysis and cross-checking across quality, environmental and health and safety performance.

David Charnock, head of quality, heath, safety and environmental at Glendale, said: “2.3 million people die each year due to workplace related accidents or illness, this places a huge burden on employers and the wider economy.

“We started a process to help us manage our occupational health and safety in 2017 when we received OHSAS 18001 and have building upon this coordinated and systematic approach to managing health and safety risks at the company ever since. 45001 is the culmination of several months preparation and provides a platform for the continuous improvement of our occupational health and safety performance.”
